French Chateau
French Chateau reinterprets the character of traditional French chateau architecture through a contemporary architectural language. The design is defined by a composition of varied roof forms, vertically proportioned windows, and carefully balanced geometric volumes that create a distinctive yet cohesive silhouette.
At the heart of the home, a circular staircase becomes more than a circulation element—it transforms into a cylindrical architectural volume that connects the interior spaces and establishes a strong visual identity. Repeated curves, proportions, and geometric forms extend throughout the exterior and interior, creating a continuous architectural language.
The result is a modern SFD that draws from the grandeur and formal character of the French chateau while expressing it through a more contemporary and sculptural approach.
Task
Develop the architectural design of a new SFD in Sherwood Forest by translating the formal character of a French chateau into a contemporary residential composition. The design focuses on the integration of multiple roof forms, vertically proportioned windows, and complementary geometric volumes. A central circular staircase is developed as a defining cylindrical element, with related forms and proportions carried throughout the interior and exterior to create a cohesive architectural identity.
