Sky Addition
This SFD addition in Venice Beach transforms an existing single-family dwelling by introducing a thoughtfully designed second story, balcony, and expansive uncovered roof deck. The design focuses on maximizing natural light, outdoor living, and coastal views while creating a seamless connection between the interior and exterior spaces.
Carefully planned to support both daytime enjoyment and nighttime gatherings, the new upper level expands the home’s living potential while maintaining a strong sense of privacy, comfort, and connection to its surroundings.
Task
The goal of this SFD addition was to expand the existing single-family residence with a new second story and enhance its connection to the outdoors. The design incorporates a new upper-level living space, balcony, and uncovered roof deck, carefully organized to maximize natural light, coastal views, and usable outdoor space. The project focused on creating a functional and cohesive addition that supports both everyday living and outdoor entertaining while responding to the unique character and environmental qualities of its Venice Beach setting.
