More Rooms is an SFD addition and remodel focused on expanding the existing home while preserving its architectural character. The project explores the potential of a second-floor addition through a careful study of the existing structure, site conditions, and overall design language.
The design process focused on selecting materials, finishes, and architectural elements that complement the original house while introducing additional living space and a cohesive contemporary update. Through thoughtful planning and spatial reconfiguration, the addition creates greater flexibility and functionality without compromising the character of the existing residence.
The result is a carefully integrated SFD expansion that adds much-needed space while maintaining a balanced relationship between the original home and the new architectural intervention.
Task
Provide a Planning and Feasibility Study for the expansion and remodel of an existing SFD through a proposed second-floor addition. The scope includes evaluating the existing residence and site conditions, identifying opportunities for additional living space, and developing design options that maximize the potential of the property while maintaining compatibility with the existing architecture. The project also includes the selection of appropriate materials, finishes, styles, and architectural elements to ensure that the new addition integrates seamlessly with the existing SFD. The goal is to create a functional and cohesive residential expansion that increases usable space while preserving the character and visual identity of the original home.
